Encouraging News:

Life is busy in Goma.  Fortunately the recent uprisings in Nyankunde, Bunia, and the Ituri region in general, is isolated and Goma is still insulated from the current tribal conflict and remains peaceful.  Work progresses at the Learning Center .  Below are pictures showing the progress and the delivery of supplies.   Continue to pray for needed funds to complete the construction, safety for the staff and wisdom for the Board. SAD NEWS

10:00 AM March 27, 2003 (EST)

We have received sad news from the site of the DOCS Learning Center in Goma, Congo. Our local construction manager, Deo, pictured below (second from left) has been shot and killed by bandits in an apparent robbery attempt.  Below is a picture of him with the TechServe team, on a happier day, when the new construction officially began.

Please pray for his family, especially for his wife who recently delivered their fourth child.  Pray for peace for the other team members pictured above who worked closely with Deo and for the safety of everyone at the Center.  We will provide more details as they become available.
