Continuing Medical Education (CME) Taught by U.S. Volunteer Physicians and African National
Physicians
DOCS organizes several 10-14 day CME trips each year and hosts CME seminars, mostly in rural locations.
These seminars expose physicians and medical personnel to high quality, regionally relevant instruction with a credentialed faculty, and provides
the opportunity for encouragement through interaction with their peers.
DOCS welcomes volunteer physicians within a variety of specialties for the CME trips.
There is an emphasis placed on Primary Health Care, Gynecology,
Internal medicine, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, and Surgery.
DOCS also facilitates longer-term volunteer opportunities for physicians who are willing to commit more than two weeks.
The exchange of medical information between African physicians and U.S. physicians has led to continuing dialogue and discussion via the
Internet, as well as continued exchanges of information regarding localized research projects.
